Y’all Keep Talkin’ About Austin

There is really no shortage of activities in Austin. With the upcoming arrival of our to-be-released Texas whiskey, American rum, and small batch gin, we’re getting excited to become part of the Austin community.

Enjoying the River

There are a handful of ways to enjoy the beautiful Colorado River that flows through Austin. One of the most popular ways is to grab some friends and some intertubes and float down a portion of it. Perfect for a hot day and perfect for big groups with special occasions. There are a lot of companies in Austin that will provide intertubes and drop-off and pick-up, so your only concern is not getting burnt! Check out this company that will provide transportation.

For more chill portions of the river, there are also options to kayak and paddleboard, which is better for a more peaceful water experience. If you have your own gear to get paddling, just grab it and go to Lakeway Marina for an easy launching spot. There’s also a paddleboard rental option.

Feeling extra adventurous? Have you ever seen the amphibious Austin Duck Adventures? It’s as fun and as silly as it sounds. These excursion vehicles will take you on a land tour of cool spots around Austin, then it’ll hop right in the water and cover a tour from the Colorado River, just like a duck would!

Hungry? Thirsty? You’re in the Right Place

There’s a reason this city is a foodie destination, and it’s evident in every Austin neighborhood you can visit. Not only does Austin have one of the most impressive food truck scenes, but it has been a pioneer for certain dishes, including barbecue, chili, and breakfast tacos. And to top it all off, the Austin whiskey scene is nothing short of impressive. The list of where to drink whiskey in Austin is endless. Paired with great local craft beer? There’s no itch this city can’t fix. One fun way to experience the scene is with a Pub Crawler group bike tour. Work together with a group of friends (and a sober professional) to pedal your way to the next drinking location.

Austin by Night

The violet crown has shown herself the sun is setting in Austin, and why not keep the activities going? One phenomenon that occurs each night from mid-March to November is unique to the city and continues to draw tourists and locals to the Congress Bridge day after day. It’s the moment thousands of bats emerge from their hiding place under the bridge to come to collect their dinner. While the presence of bats might make some people squirm, it really is a sight to see, and the fact that they feast on mosquitos might bring you some peace.

Once you’ve got that spooky scene out of your mind, continue on the theme and go on a haunted walking ghost tour of Austin. With a rich and haunted history, this city is highlighted with a ghost story-esque tour. They have family-friendly options, and also adult tours that get pretty scary.

Music

Another Austin highlight is, of course, the music industry. There are many options for catching live music around the city. One of the coolest places to catch a show is with Sofar Sounds, an organization that highlights local talent with private, intimate, ‘secret’ concerts. Buy your ticket in advance without knowing who’s performing, and they’ll send you the location the day of the event. They’re true professionals in the game, so their selection process for performers is no joke, so you’re sure to discover your next favorite musician. And for more venues playing around the city, check out The Elephant Room for jazz or The White Horse for country.

Austin is a city full of exciting adventures, and ReVerb Distilling is excited to join the list. If you’d like to stay up-to-date on when and where to purchase our craft rye whiskey, or any of our other southern liquor options, subscribe to our newsletter
